Putting renewables to work in underserved communities

In the 2018 Entrepreneurs for Resilience Award cycle, we focused on innovative solutions that offer affordable access to renewable energy for households in low-income communities. To be eligible for the award, applicants had to take a business-minded approach to tackling behavioural and/or other barriers to successful adoption of renewable energy and be able to cover households’ basic energy needs.

The winner, Altech, was selected from three finalists by a jury of Swiss Re senior executives, academic representatives and selected Swiss Re clients at an award ceremony in Accra (Ghana) on 7 May 2018.
